- How long does a Bowen Session last?
Typically a bowen session lasts 45 minutes but you should allow an hour for the first session. The first session takes longer because I will take some medical history and assess your needs in some detail before commencing treatment.
- What should I wear for a Bowen session?
I can easily treat effectively through light clothing. If a you attend a Bowen session wearing jeans or very thick trousers I may ask you to remove that item of clothing. I will then cover you with a clean towel.
- Is Bowen available on BUPA?
Not BUPA yet, however I can provide you with receipts for treatment that clients have been able to claim the costs back via some health insurance schemes.
Some employers will refund the cost of Bowen Treatment back to employees. Let me know if you want me to prepare receipts for you?
- What hours are appointments available?
Please contact me for your individual appointment needs. Most hours can be accomodated. Daytime, evening and ocasionally weekend appointments are available. My appointments at The Bodywise Studio are on Thursdays.
- I’m not very mobile, will I have to walk far?
If you are able to drive, or have a helper who can, you can come and visit my clinic in Horningsea where you can park right outside. There is one small step to enter the building.
- Do you have disabled access?
Neither of my premises have completely clear wheelchair access in that they both have one small step to access however once inside the internal doors are wide enough to accommodate standard wheel widths. I can treat you whilst you stay seated in your wheelchair. - Do you have parking in Gwydir Street?
If your appointment with me is in Gwydir Street and you plan to drive then you will probably find parking at the Gwydir Street Pay and Display car park is most convenient. Sorry, we don’t have any free parking available here. - Is Bowen safe for pregnant women?
Whilst Bowen is safe during pregnancy I prefer for you to wait until you are into your 2nd trimester (after week 13) before you come and see me. Bowen can help to ease some pregnancy symptoms and can be helpful in the management of Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD). It can aid relaxation and it’s important during this time to take care of yourself and allow yourself some time for this. - Do you have any Case Histories I can read about my condition?
The European College of Bowen Studies (ECBS) on their website lists some summaries from real people who have experienced Bowen. Unfortunately the ASA prohibit me from linking to these case histories but you can find them for yourself by using a search engine.
